Multi-Currency & Hijri Calendar

The Multi-Currency & Hijri module is Premium localization plumbing — every monetary value can be expressed in any currency, and every date can be displayed in Gregorian or Hijri.

Premium tier. Required for tenants operating across UAE + KSA + Egypt or those serving clients who require Hijri-dated certificates.

Overview

Currencies and calendars are first-class citizens. A project budgeted in AED can have IPCs in USD and supplier invoices in EUR — all rolled up via the rate table.

Key concepts

Base currency. Each company has a base currency (e.g., AED). Reports default to the base currency.

Transaction currency. Each transaction carries its own currency.

Rate. Conversion rate between two currencies on a specific date. Stored in a rate table with value date.

Rate source. Where rates come from — manual entry, daily auto-pull from a configured FX feed, or fixed rates.

Locale. Combines language (AR / EN), calendar (Gregorian / Hijri), and number format.

Hijri toggle. Every date field has a toggle to show the same date in Hijri. The toggle is per-user.

Step-by-step: add a currency

  1. Admin → Currencies → Add currency.
  2. Pick from ISO list (AED, USD, EUR, SAR, EGP, …).
  3. Mark as base or quote currency.
  4. Configure rate source.

Step-by-step: enter a rate

  1. Admin → Currencies → Rates → New rate.
  2. Pick from / to currencies and value date.
  3. Enter the rate.
  4. Save — applied to every transaction with that value date.

Step-by-step: switch to Hijri display

  1. User menu → Preferences → Calendar → Hijri.
  2. All date displays update immediately.
  3. Forms accept Hijri input with a converter to Gregorian under the hood.

Common tasks

  • Auto-pull rates: Admin → Currencies → Auto-pull to schedule daily updates.
  • Fix a rate: for fixed-rate pairs, set the rate without a value date and mark as Fixed.
  • Multi-currency BOQ: lines can have mixed currencies; the BOQ rolls up in base.
  • Export with Hijri: PDF / Excel exports respect the user's calendar preference.

Troubleshooting

  • "Conversion uses an old rate." — System uses the rate on the transaction's value date. If you need a different date, create a rate for that date.
  • "Hijri date is one day off." — Hijri vs. Gregorian conversion has a ±1 day uncertainty around moon-sighting. The system uses the Umm al-Qura standard.
  • "Auto-pull failed." — FX feed credentials issue. Check Admin → Integrations → FX feed.
